Monday in Edinburgh

Wow, what a beautiful sunrise.

We headed for Edinburgh Castle right after breakfast. Someone told us to be there first thing or late in the day. We picked first thing. So did all these people.

We got an audio tour that went up to about no. 45. I think we made it to 24?

It’s all interesting but a person doesn’t want to absorb all that much history on vacation.

We saw the Crown and the Crown Jewels, but they wouldn’t permit photography. The prisons were interesting. They were clean and warm, probably not at all realistic.

All these people! It was just crawling with people.

So we left and took the city bus to see The Royal Yacht Britannia. They have an amazing LEGO model! Caden should see this! 40,000 pieces.

We saw all of it, from top wheelhouse to bottom engine room, and had lunch on the deck where the Royals used to spend their time.

There is a garage on-board where they used to put the Rolls Royce they took with them. No, that is not a Rolls Royce.

Here are some crew quarters. Funny, I didn’t take a photo of the Queen’s bedroom.

The surgery and engine room.

We then got another Lothian 22 bus back downtown and wandered down the Royal Mile for a bit. Lots of bagpipe music all the time. A block or so off the main road we stopped at a Spanish tapas place and had dinner. Too much eating – though this was very good food. Couldn’t pronounce it but had no trouble eating it.

And, speaking of eating here are a couple pictures of the kitchen at Castle Rock. We haven’t used it…but we could.

And here’s the front desk. They are always very busy. This is a happening place!

That’s it for today. Keep smiling!
